VRT's Zomerschool Vlaanderen is the digital summer school for all of Flanders. For each grade they offer an educational program on various topics such as language, mathematics and science. Zomerschool Vlaanderen was broadcasted via television on Eén and online via Ketnet, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram!
I was approached by Wouter, the producer of Zomerschool (and a friend of mine) to help with the animation and editing of five episodes. The fact that I could help children with their home education was a huge motivational factor for me. The impact of my design was bigger than I’ve ever experienced before and I was very proud to see my work on Belgian national TV. The producers gave me the creative freedom to create all the illustrations by myself. I was also allowed and to insert jokes through GIF’s at points where I thought that it would be appropiate.
The fact that I was asked to work on a production of this size felt like a big honor, because I only started with animation half a year prior to this project.
